A Little About Me

Melike Emeksiz

The person behind the therapist.

Sometimes, life feels unbearably heavy. You may not know where to begin, and you may even hesitate to share what you are carrying. You stay quiet, wondering, “What if they do not understand?” or “What if they think I am overreacting?” Everyone says, “It will pass,” but no one seems to truly see how heavy it feels for you.

In moments like these, you do not have to carry everything alone. We cannot change the past, but we do not have to let it define the rest of your story.

I am here to listen without judgment, help you make sense of what you have been through, and walk alongside you as you step into your next chapter with more hope, strength, and a deeper sense of yourself.

You Are More Than What Happened to You

Your story is still being written.

Life unfolds in chapters.

Some bring joy, connection, and growth. Others hold anxiety, grief, uncertainty, or experiences we never would have chosen.

We cannot rewrite what has already happened. But we can understand how it has shaped you, decide what you want to carry forward, and begin relating to your story in a new way.

Your next chapter does not require you to forget the past or become a completely different person. It may begin quietly: with greater self-understanding, one honest conversation, or one meaningful step toward something different.

You do not need to know how the whole story will unfold. We can begin with the page you are on today.

You May Be Here Because…

Some chapters are harder to carry alone.

Perhaps you appear to be doing well while feeling overwhelmed inside.

You may be tired of overthinking, questioning yourself, or repeating the same patterns in your relationships. You may be grieving a person, a relationship, a former version of yourself, or the life you thought you would have.

Maybe something has changed and you no longer feel like yourself. Or perhaps nothing looks obviously wrong, but you know that something does not feel right.

You may not know exactly what you need or how to put your experience into words. That is okay.

Whatever brought you here, you do not have to minimize it or carry it alone. Therapy can offer a place to pause, understand what you are feeling, and begin discovering what you need next.

What Therapy With Me Feels Like

Melike Emeksiz

Therapy with me is an active conversation. I will not sit silently while you feel responsible for finding all the answers on your own.

I will listen closely, ask meaningful questions, share what I notice, and help you become curious about the emotions and patterns beneath the surface. When it may be helpful, I will gently challenge you while remaining respectful of your pace and boundaries.

There is no one-size-fits-all version of therapy. Our work will be shaped by your experiences, relationships, culture, values, and hopes for change.

You are the expert on your life. I bring clinical knowledge, honest reflection, and a different perspective. Together, we create a space where something new can become possible.

My role is not to take control of your story. It is to help you understand it more deeply and support you as you decide how you would like it to continue.
